Each year in mid-March, the Sinixt Confederacy hosts a ceremony at the maternity pen to honor the caribou and make offerings for their recovery.
The Sinixt Confederacy was happy to support the Inchelium Language and Culture Association with the Sinixt Medicine Camp set up at Kp̓iƛ̓l̓s.
The Sinixt Confederacy embarked on their ninth canoe journey down the Columbia River, with a stop in Nelson. The community was invited to participate in various cultural activities, including artisan tables at Lakeside Park and a paddle on the West Arm of Kootenay Lake.
The Sinixt Confederacy conducted a series of Ethnohistory Training sessions for various businesses, organizations, and governments in the West Kootenay region. The event, which took place over three days in April 2024, aimed to educate local stakeholders about Sinixt history, culture, land stewardship, and traditional practices.

The Sinixt Confederacy inaugurated their Fish & Wildlife office in Nelson, BC, marking a significant step in re-establishing their presence in their traditional territory.
On June 18, 2023, the Sinixt Confederacy hosted a Canoe Journey event in Nelson, British Columbia.
As part of the Responsible Recreation: Pathways, Practices, and Possibilities conference, the Sinixt Confederacy hosted a keynote event focusing on responsible recreation through the lenses of climate and culture, featuring Sinixt cultural facilitator Shelly Boyd.
This event will help to shed light on the history, rights, and cultural narratives of the Sinixt people, featuring readings from Eileen Delehanty Pearkes' "Geography of Memory" and a screening of Derrick LaMere's film "Older than the Crown."
The Ceremony and Celebration was held in Nelson’s Lakeside Park to mark the Desautel decision and end of Canada’s extinction policy. It was a joyful time for us.
