The Sinixt Confederacy embarked on their ninth canoe journey down the Columbia River, with a stop in Nelson. The community was invited to participate in various cultural activities, including artisan tables at Lakeside Park and a paddle on the West Arm of Kootenay Lake. The journey emphasized the Sinixt people’s deep connection to their traditional territories and waterways.
This event underscored the Sinixt Confederacy’s commitment to cultural preservation and community engagement.
