The Sinixt Confederacy conducted a series of Ethnohistory Training sessions for various businesses, organizations, and governments in the West Kootenay region. The event, which took place over three days in April 2024, aimed to educate local stakeholders about Sinixt history, culture, land stewardship, and traditional practices. The training fostered a deeper understanding of the Confederacy’s relationship to the land and aimed to enhance collaboration across sectors to promote sustainable development and cultural preservation within their traditional territories.

Over 500 participants attended the training, which included representatives from more than 230 organizations and businesses, such as municipalities, school districts, timber companies, hydro producers, community forests, and regional districts. The event reflects the Sinixt Confederacy’s ongoing commitment to building stronger relationships and educating others about Indigenous history and cultural practices.
